There are many benefits to keeping a food diary, it is definitely worthwhile if you want to change your eating habits or manage your weight. It is also useful if you want to investigate or overcome an ailment, disease or set of symtoms that may be related to your diet. You can keep track of what you are eating, what you are feeling and any changes.
- It will help you to identify what you are doing right
- It will help you to change your eating habits
- It increases your awareness of your eating habits
- It enhances control over your eating
- It identifies which behaviours and patterns of thinking need to be tackled and the circumstances under which problems can arise.
- It helps you to see what positive changes you are making
- It allows you to identify your main sources of calories and nutrients. This will be of great help in improving and planning how you can lose weight and keep your weight stable.
Sure, keeping a diet diary is time consuming and can be a nuisance if you are busy or can't be bothered, but it CERTAINLY is worth the effort for the benefits it offers.
